Taken : Taken is an action thriller , that is about a retired spy who's daughter is kidnapped along with her friend by Albanian human traffickers and takes the action to track down the location of his daughter and her friend . A scene that shows that this is an action thriller is (1:12) where the spy gets into a phyiscal altercation with the person responsible for getting the girls taken ,in a desperate state of aggression and asks for the location of the girls . As time progresses throughout the trailer , we see that the spy talks to someone on the phone where he threatens the person on the phone to either give up his daughter or face the consequences of being hunted and killed (1:05) and (1:28) . The effect of the convention on the audience is how the guy who meets and 'be-friends' the girls turns out to set them up to be captured , this adds to the thriller experience as the audience do not expect the guy to cause the girls to get captured and be part of the Albanian human trafficker group .

The usual suspects : The usual suspects is a 1995 mystery thriller film that is about 5 criminals who are arrested and brought in together for questioning as they aren't guilty , they plan to take revenge against the police however they fall under the influence of a 'legendary criminal mastermind ' called Keyser soze . A scene that proves that the movie is a mystery thriller is (0:43) where the name Keyser soze is said by a patient who shouts his name . As the trailer progresses the name 'keyser soze ' is again repeated which shows the mystery within the movie of who this person maybe this is shown at (1:52) where one of the main characters mentions their fear for keyser soze ,this adds to the thriller experience as viewers are curious to find out the identity of keyser soze as the characters name is mentioned multiple times which adds to the suspense behind this character .
Another shot is (1:06) where this shows one of the suspects (verbal kint ) in a state of distress and is thinking to himself which adds to the thriller experience as the audience are lead to believe something bad may have happened which creates a sort of suspense to the scene about what has happened .
Thriller editing sequence- (0:27) the transition where the dark figure walks past and reveals all the different suspects relates to the thriller as the shots change as the figure walks past to show the suspects , this has an affect on the audience as they are presented with all the suspects in the same exact sequence of the figure walking past to reveal each of the suspects . (0:49) all the suspects are revealed and the audience are given the names of each one as they appear one by one with some dialogue which may be heard within the movie at various different times which shows some thriller elements as the suspects all have something to say about who they are and can help identify who the main antagonist could be , as it makes the audience believe that one of the suspects may be the antagonist they are after .
Mise en scene - (0:38) the lighting of where keyser soze is seen climbing the ladder is dark and there isn't much lighting around this character which adds to mystery behind keyser soze and who he could be , which adds to the thriller experiences it creates the mystery behind this character and their identity .
