Thriller themes
The silence of the lambs
Crime
fear
investigation
Crime
Crime is presented in the film at (0:20) where a reporter talks about the murder of the '5th victim' where it shows newspapers regarding the murders committed by 'buffalo bill ' who is shown to be the killer that is ' on the loose ' this gives a clear understanding of what the crime is and how is has taken place . The story is aimed at creating fear and suspense through the mystery of the investigation of the murders that have been committed by the killer 'Buffalo bill ' and the use of the psychopath ' Hannibal lector ' how he is to be taken cautiously and is observed very carefully due to how dangerous he is said to be , this gives the audience of their being more than one potential danger as he is unpredictable and brings fear into his victims , an example of this is shown in the trailer at (1:10) where a police officer yells in fear after Hannibal lector is shown Handcuffing the policeman , the policemen is shown yelling which implies the idea of him facing danger from the psychopath .
Newspapers regarding the killings of buffalo bill and the number of people he has killed and the terror he is bringing , as well as images of the victims' bodies .
Hannibal Lecter takes the officer's handcuffs and ties it to the bar which leaves the officer vulnerable and we see Hannibal Lecter use this to his advantage and shown by the facial expression of the policeman , it stands to reason that Hannibal Lecter poses a danger as the police officer yells in fear .
This theme can be explored as it may play a major role within my movie as it could change the events of the movie itself and what could occur next .
Fear
Fear is shown within the film at (0:09) where the FBI agent ( Clarice ) shakes when the gate of the cells is closed and the doctor assures that she will be Fine as he says ' ill be watching ,you'll do fine ' this shows the audience that whoever is locked up seems too bring a sense of fear towards the agent . Another scene that presents fear is (1:10) where Hannibal Lecter attempts to escape and uses one of the police officers' handcuffs on him to keep him from escaping which then leaves the officer vulnerable to danger as is shown as the officer yells in fear , this gives the idea that the whole idea of fear being presented within the film is all based behind the character of Hannibal Lecter .
Investigation
There main idea of investigation is linked to the crime that has been played out within the movie the murders committed by 'Buffalo bill' and how the young FBI agent is taking the case and responsibility of hunting and bringing in Buffalo bill .
